Normal Operation

When the key is inserted into the ignition cylinder, the key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch) closes, providing a voltage signal to the lighting control module (LCM) on circuit 158 (BK/PK). The voltage input signals the LCM that the key is inserted. The LCM also monitors the driver door ajar switch status and the ignition switch status. If the LCM detects that the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, the key is inserted in the ignition cylinder, and the driver door is ajar, the key-in-ignition warning chime sounds.

• DTC B1352 (Ignition Key-In Circuity Failure) - a continuous DTC that sets when the LCM detects that the key-in-ignition signal, circuit 158 (BK/PK) is inactive while RUN/ACC or RUN/START are active. It is also an on-demand that sets when the LCM detects that the key-in-ignition signal, circuit 158 (BK/PK) is open or short to ground.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

• Wiring, terminals or connectors
• Fuse
• Key-in-ignition switch (part of the ignition switch)
• LCM
