Pinpoint Test J: The Rear Video Mirror Display Is Always On (Vehicles Without Navigation)

  1. J1 CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION 
    • Check the operation of the reversing lamps.
    • Do the reversing lamps operate correctly? 
    • Yes:  DISCONNECT any after market trailer lighting equipment. GO to J2  .
    • No:  REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
  2. J2 CHECK THE AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR REVERSE INPUT CIRCUIT 
    • Disconnect: Auto-Dimming Interior Mirror C9039.
    • Measure the voltage between the auto-dimming interior mirror C9039-2, circuit CBB07 (GN/BU), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 
    • Yes:  REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  GO to J3  .
  3. J3 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUTO-DIMMING INTERIOR MIRROR DISPLAY OPERATION 
    • Disconnect the auto-dimming interior mirror display connector.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect the auto-dimming interior mirror display connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes:  INSTALL a new auto-dimming interior mirror. REFER to INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
