Pinpoint Test C: The Temperature Gauge Is Inoperative (Non-Hybrid)

- C1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded PCM DTCs from the Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test.
- Are any PCM DTCs recorded?
- Yes: REFER to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE MODELS .
- No: GO to C2 .
- C2 CARRY OUT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger.
- Select the IC temperature gauge (ENGCOOLNT) active command. Command the temperature gauge to 50°C (122°F), 100°C (212°F) and 125°C (257°F) while monitoring the gauge.
- Does the temperature gauge start at cold (C), move to the midrange and end at full hot (H)?
- Yes: GO to C3 .
- No: INSTALL a new IC . REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (IC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
- C3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded IC DTCs from the self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes:
For DTC U0100, GO to PINPOINT TEST AU .
For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC CHARTS .
- No: INSTALL a new PCM. Refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 2.5L or ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS - 3.0L (4V) . TEST the system for normal operation.
