Removal and Installation

Always disconnect the battery ground cable at the battery when working on an evaporative emission (EVAP) system or fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury.
All vehicles
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
(2.5L), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
(3.0L) and REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
(3.5L)

2.5L and 3.0L vehicles
- Disconnect the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister purge valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the vapor tube-to-EVAP canister purge valve quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to QUICK CONNECT COUPLING .
- Remove the 2 bolts and the EVAP
canister purge valve.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
3.5L vehicles
- Remove the lower cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to COWL PANEL GRILLE
.NOTE: The lower cowl panel grille must be removed to access the EVAP canister purge valve.
- Disconnect the EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the 2 vapor tube-to- EVAP canister purge valve quick connect couplings. For additional information, refer to QUICK CONNECT COUPLING .
- Depress the tab and remove the EVAP
canister purge valve from the bracket.
All vehicles
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Carry out the Evaporative Emission System Leak Test. For additional information, refer to EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK TEST .
