Normal Operation

The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) receives the Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system status from the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) (part of the steering gear) through the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) communication bus. When the PSCM  detects a fault in the EPAS system, the PSCM  sends a message to the IPC  to turn on the SERVICE STEERING message in the message center.
