Pinpoint Test B: A Single Mirror Is Inoperative

Test Step

B1 CHECK THE EXTERIOR MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Exterior Mirror Control Switch C527.
- Carry out the exterior mirror control switch test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING - F250-F550 SUPER DUTY PICK for component testing.
- Is the exterior mirror control switch OK?
Result / Action to Take
- Yes : GO to B2.
- No : INSTALL a new exterior mirror control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
B2 DETERMINE THE INOPERATIVE EXTERIOR MIRROR
- Operate the exterior mirrors to determine which exterior mirror is inoperative.
- Does one of the exterior mirrors not operate?
- Yes : If the LH exterior mirror is inoperative in the UP/DOWN mode, GO to B3.
  If the LH exterior mirror is inoperative in the LEFT/RIGHT mode, GO to B4.
  
  If the RH exterior mirror is inoperative in the UP/DOWN mode, GO to B5.
  
  If the RH exterior mirror is inoperative in the LEFT/RIGHT mode, GO to B6.
- No : System working correctly.
B3 CHECK THE LH EXTERIOR MIRROR MOVEMENT (UP/DOWN)
- Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C521.
- Operate the exterior mirror control switch to the LH, UP position, while measuring the voltage at LH exterior mirror C521 pin 3, circuit 541 (DB/YE) harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage 10 volts or greater?
- Yes : INSTALL a new LH exterior mirror. REFER to EXTERIOR MIRROR in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
B4 CHECK THE LH EXTERIOR MIRROR MOVEMENT (LEFT/RIGHT)
- Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C521.
- Operate the exterior mirror control switch to the LH, LEFT position, while measuring the voltage at LH exterior mirror C521 pin 1, circuit 540 (RD) harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage 10 volts or greater?
- Yes : INSTALL a new LH exterior mirror. REFER to EXTERIOR MIRROR in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
B5 CHECK THE RH EXTERIOR MIRROR MOVEMENT (UP/DOWN)
- Disconnect: RH Exterior Mirror C601.
- Operate the exterior mirror control switch to the RH, UP position, while measuring the voltage at RH exterior mirror C601 pin 3, circuit 544 (VT) harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage 10 volts or greater?
- Yes : INSTALL a new RH exterior mirror. REFER to EXTERIOR MIRROR in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
B6 CHECK THE RH MIRROR MOVEMENT (LEFT/RIGHT)
- Disconnect: RH Exterior Mirror C601.
- Operate the exterior mirror control switch to the RH, LEFT position, measure the voltage at RH exterior mirror C601 pin 1, circuit 543 (DG) harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage 10 volts or greater?
- Yes : INSTALL a new RH exterior mirror. REFER to EXTERIOR MIRROR in this section. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
