- A1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DEMAND LIGHTING
- Operate the demand lighting function on one interior lamp.
- Does the demand lighting operate correctly?
- Yes : GO to A2.
- No : GO to A5.
- A2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE HEADLAMP SWITCH
- With the headlamp switch, attempt to operate the interior lamps.
- Do any interior lamps illuminate?
- Yes : GO to SYMPTOM CHART for correct diagnosis.
- No : GO to A3.
- A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 785 (BK/LG) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220b.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220b-13, circuit 785 (BK/LG) and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to A4.
- No : VERIFY the central junction box (CJB) fuse 35 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 53 (BK/LB) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between C220b-26, circuit 53 (BK/LB) and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to A6.
- No : GO to A5.
- A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Interior Lamp C932.
- Measure the resistance between C932-2, circuit 57 (BK) and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : REPAIR circuit 53 (BK/LB) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 705 (LG/OG) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Instrument Cluster C220a.
- Measure the voltage between the instrument cluster C220a-26, circuit 705 (LG/OG) and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to A7.
- No : VERIFY the CJB fuse 41 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- A7 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
