Removal And Installation

All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
- Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
- Remove the panhard bar. For additional information, refer to REAR SUSPENSION .
- Remove the rear support braces. For additional information, refer to BODY SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Support the differential housing with a suitable transmission jack.
- Remove and discard the 2 shock absorber nuts and 2 shock absorber bolts.
- To install, tighten new nuts and bolts to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).
- Remove and discard the upper control arm nut and upper control arm bolt.
- To install, tighten new nuts and bolts to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).
- Lower the axle slightly, and remove the springs.
- Remove and discard the trailing arm nuts and trailing arm bolts.
- To install, tighten new nuts and bolts to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the lower suspension arms from the axle housing.
- Lower the axle housing from the vehicle.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Secure the differential housing to the transmission jack with a suitable strap.
