Pinpoint Test A: The Control Illumination Is Inoperative

  1. A1 CHECK THE PARKING LAMPS 
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
    • Are the parking lamps illuminated? 
    • Yes  : PLACE the headlamp switch in the OFF position. GO to  A2.
    • No  : REPAIR the parking lamps. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Headlamp Switch C205b.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
    • Measure the voltage between the headlamp switch C205b pin 6, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A3.
    • No  : GO to  A5.
  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
    • Measure the resistance between the headlamp switch C205b pin 4, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A4.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1045 (DB/WH) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the headlamp switch C205b pin 6, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side and the headlamp switch C205b pin 1, circuit 1045 (DB/WH), harness side.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.

    • Is the control illumination operative? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new headlamp switch. REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING . Test the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. A5 CHECK CIRCUIT 14 (BN) FOR AN OPEN IN THE SJB 
    • Measure the voltage between the SJB fuse 35 (10A) and ground, while the headlamp switch is in the PARK position.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A6.
    • No  : GO to  A7.
  6. A6 CHECK CIRCUIT 19 (LB/RD) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b.
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b pin 30, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side and the headlamp switch C205b pin 6, circuit 19 (LB/RD), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  A7.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. A7 CHECK FOR SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . REPEAT the self-test.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
