Test R: Speed Control Cruise Indicator Never On
- Road test vehicle and verify cruise control operation. If cruise control operates properly, go to next step. If cruise control does not operate properly, repair cruise control system as necessary. See CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS - VILLAGER article.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect speed control actuator module 24-pin harness connector C247. Speed control actuator module is located behind lower center of instrument panel. Connect a fused 10-amp jumper wire between ground and speed control actuator module harness connector C247 terminal No. 21 (Red wire). See Fig 1. If speed control CRUISE indicator illuminates, go to next step. If speed control CRUISE indicator does not illuminate, go to step 4.
- Disconnect instrument cluster 22-pin harness connector C266b. Measure resistance of Red wire between instrument cluster harness connector C266b terminal No. 6 and speed control actuator module harness connector C247 terminal No. 21. See Figure and Fig 1
. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace speed control actuator module. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Red wire.
- Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corroded or pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Operate system and verify if concern still exists. If concern still exists, replace instrument cluster. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . If concern does not exist, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
