Test R: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative

  1. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C266c. Disconnect Smart Entry Control (SEC) timer/module harness connector C2032a. SEC timer/module is located in center console on left side. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between terminal No. 8 at instrument cluster harness connector C266c and terminal No. 22 at SEC timer/module harness connector C2032a. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/White wire.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C266b. Measure voltage between instrument cluster harness connector C266c terminal No. 8 (Brown/White wire) and instrument cluster harness connector C266b terminal No. 2 (Blue wire). See Figure and Figure . If battery voltage exists with each door open, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage does not exist with each door open, repair wiring in affected door ajar circuit. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS - VILLAGER article.
