Test P: Safety Belt Warning Inoperative (Chime Operative)

  1. Disconnect safety belt buckle switch 2-pin harness connector C304. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and terminal No. 2 (Green wire) at safety belt buckle switch 2-pin harness connector C304. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If safety belt light illuminates, go to step  3. If safety belt light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C266c. Measure resistance of Green wire between safety belt buckle switch harness connector C304 and terminal No. 11 at instrument cluster harness connector C266c. See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Green wire.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) at safety belt buckle switch harness connector C302. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace safety belt buckle switch. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
