Test M: High Beam Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn high beam headlights on. If high beam headlights operate properly, go to next step. If high beam headlights do not operate properly, repair headlights as necessary. See HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS article.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C266c. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn high beam headlights on. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 7 (Orange/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C266c. See Figure. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short to ground in Orange/Blue wire. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C266c. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
