Test R: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative

  1. Remove instrument cluster. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C267B. Disconnect Smart Entry Control (SEC) timer/module connector C2032A. SEC timer/module is located in center console on left side. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between instrument cluster connector C267B terminal No. 11 and SEC timer/module connector C2032A terminal No. 22. See Figure, Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect SEC timer/module connector C2032A and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Brown/White wire.
  2. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between instrument cluster connector C267B terminal No. 11 (Brown/White wire) and instrument cluster connector C267C terminal No. 20 (Blue wire). See Figure. If voltage is more than 10 volts with each door open, replace instrument cluster. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If voltage is less than 10 volts with each door open, repair courtesy lights as necessary. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article WIRING DIAGRAMS.
