Test F: Tachometer Inoperative

Access rear of instrument panel. DO NOT disconnect any connectors. Measure voltage by backprobing between ground and terminal No. 4 (Green/White wire) at instrument cluster connector C267A. See Figure. Start engine. Raise vehicle speed and note speed to voltage readings. With engine running at speeds indicated, verify corresponding voltage readings. See TACHOMETER SIGNAL VOLTAGES  table. If voltage readings are correct, replace instrument cluster. If voltage readings are not correct, repair Powertrain Control Module (PCM) as necessary. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
