Test D: Temperature Gauge Inaccurate
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor connector. ECT sensor is located on right rear side of engine. Connect fused jumper between ECT sensor Blue/White wire terminal and ground. Turn ignition on. If temperature gauge indicates "H", replace ECT sensor. Retest system. If temperature gauge does not indicate "H", go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C267A. Measure resistance of Blue/White wire between ECT sensor connector terminal and instrument cluster connector C267A terminal No. 2. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. See Figure. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C267A terminal No. 2 (Blue/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If both resistances are as specified, replace instrument cluster and retest. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance is not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Blue/White wire. Retest system.
