Test Q: Speed Control Indicator Never On

  1. Start engine. Road test vehicle and verify cruise control operation. If cruise control operates properly, go to next step. If cruise control does not operate properly, repair cruise control as necessary. See CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEMS - VILLAGER article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Gain access to speed control actuator module. Speed control actuator module is located below left side of instrument panel. Disconnect speed control actuator module connector C247. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C267B. Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire between instrument cluster connector C267B terminal No. 10 and speed control actuator module connector C247 terminal No. 4. See Figure and Fig 1 . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C267B terminal No. 10 (Red/Yellow wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistance measurements are as specified, replace instrument cluster. See ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If resistance measurements are not as specified, repair open or short to ground in Red/Yellow wire. Retest system.
