Tachometer operates on a Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor signal sent to PCM. The PCM converts CMP sine wave signal to a digital signal and sends it to tachometer in electronic instrument cluster. Engine RPM is indicated by the number of bars lit. Each bar represents 200 RPM.
