Test R: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative

  1. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C266C. Disconnect Smart Entry Control (SEC) timer/module connector C2032A. SEC timer/module is located in center console on left side. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between instrument cluster connector C266C terminal No. 8 and SEC timer/module connector C2032A terminal No. 22. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Brown/White wire.
  2. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between instrument cluster connector C266C terminal No. 8 (Brown/White wire) and instrument cluster connector C266B terminal No. 2 (Blue wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts with each door open, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If voltage is not more than 10 volts with each door open, go to appropriate wiring diagram in ILLUMINATION INTERIOR LIGHTS - VILLAGER article.
