Test P: Safety Belt Warning Inoperative (Chime Operative)

  1. Disconnect safety belt buckle switch 2-pin connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between ground and safety belt buckle switch 2-pin connector Green wire terminal. Turn ignition on. If safety belt light illuminates, go to next step. If safety belt light does not illuminate, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition switch off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C266C. Measure resistance of Green wire between washer fluid level switch and instrument cluster connector C266C terminal No. 11. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair Green wire. Retest system.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and safety belt buckle switch Black wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace safety belt buckle switch. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
