Test A: Instrument Cluster Inoperative
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster connectors. See Figure - Figure . Reconnect negative battery cable and turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C266A terminal No. 9 (Blue wire). Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C266B terminal No. 2 (Blue wire). Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C266C terminal No. 5 (Blue wire). If all voltage measurements are more than 10 volts, go to next step. If any voltage measurement is 10 volts or less, repair open or short to ground in Blue wire between interior fuse panel and instrument cluster.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C266A terminal No. 6 (Black wire) and connector C266B terminal No. 5 (Black/Red wire). If resistance in both measurements is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit and retest. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance in either measurement is more than 5 ohms, repair open or high resistance in circuit(s) in question and retest system.
