Test V: Door Ajar Warning Light Never/Always On
- Turn ignition off. Open and close each door and observe courtesy lights. If all courtesy lights work properly, go to next step. If any courtesy lights are inoperative, see appropriate ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS wiring diagrams in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.NOTE: If door ajar warning light is always on, go to step 3).
- Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove door ajar warning light bulb. Test continuity of bulb. Replace bulb if necessary. Retest system. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector C266. Remove Green diode strip from diode junction box located behind fuse panel. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between diode junction box No. 2 connector C2010 terminal No. 19 and instrument cluster connector C266 terminal No. 8. See Figure -Figure , and Figure . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C266 terminal No. 8 (Brown/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistance measurements are as specified, go to next step. If resistance measurements are not as specified, repair Brown/White wire. Retest system.
- Disconnect timer module connector C2030. Timer module is located in center console on left side. Measure resistance of Brown/White wire between timer module connector C2030 terminal No. 7 and diode junction box No. 2 connector C2010 terminal No. 20. See Figure -Figure , and Fig 1 . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and timer module connector C2030 terminal No. 7 (Brown/White wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistance measurements are as specified, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If resistance measurements are not as specified, repair Brown/White wire. Retest system.
