Test U: Cruise Control Indicator Never/Always On
NOTE:
If cruise light is always on, start test at step 2).
- Turn ignition switch off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove cruise light bulb and check continuity of bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is bad, replace bulb and retest system.
- Gain access to cruise module. Cruise module is located below center console, below TCM. DO NOT disconnect connector. Measure voltage between ground and cruise module connector C247 terminal No. 4 (Red/Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . Road test vehicle. Turn cruise on. Accelerate to over 30 MPH and depress cruise COAST/SET switch. Turn cruise switch off. If voltage is more than 10 volts with cruise set and less than one volt with cruise off, go to next step. If voltage is not as described, see CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect cruise module connector C247. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C266. Measure resistance of Red/Yellow wire between instrument cluster connector C266 terminal No. 12 and cruise module connector C247 terminal No. 4. See Figure -Figure and Fig 1 . Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster connector C266 terminal No. 12 (Red/Yellow wire). Resistance should be more than 10 k/ohms. If resistance measurements are as specified, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If resistance measurements are not as specified, repair Red/Yellow wire. Retest system.
