Test R: High Beam Indicator Never/Always On

  1. Turn ignition on. Turn headlights on. Place multifunction switch in high beam position. If outside high beam lights operate, go to next step. If outside high beam lights do not operate properly, see appropriate HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section.
    NOTE: If high beam indicator light is always on, go to step 3).
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove high beam indicator light bulb. Test continuity of bulb. Replace bulb if necessary. Retes0 system. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C266. Turn ignition on. Turn headlights on. Place multifunction switch in high beam position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector C266 terminal No. 7 (Orange/Blue wire). See Figure - Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system. If voltage 10 volts or less, repair open or short in Orange/Blue wire. Retest system.
