Test P: Distance To Empty Does Not Go Below 200 Miles With Fuel Tank Empty, Or Distance To Empty Always Indicates Zero

  1. Perform TEST D: INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE INDICATION test. Repair or replace as necessary. If fuel gauge is okay, go to next step.
  2. Perform SPEEDOMETER READS ZERO OR INDICATION VARIES ERRATICALLY test. Repair or replace as necessary. If speedometer is okay, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Disconnect instrument cluster connector C272. See Figure . Check for voltage signal at connector C272, pin No. 8 (Orange/B lack wire). If voltage signal is present, replace instrument cluster. If voltage signal is not present, repair Orange/Black wire.
