Fuel Gauge

NOTE: The fuel gauge is part of the fuel/temperature gauge assembly. Neither of these gauges is serviceable separately. If either gauge malfunctions, assembly must be replaced.
  1. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove fuel indicator module from back of instrument cluster. See FUEL INDICATOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Using a jumper, connect fuel gauge "B" terminal to battery voltage, and fuel gauge "G" terminal to ground. See Fig 1 .
  3. Connect one lead of Rotunda Instrument Gauge System Tester (014-R1063), or equivalent, to "S" terminal of fuel gauge and other lead to "G" terminal of fuel gauge.
  4. Adjust instrument gauge tester to resistances shown in the FUEL GAUGE RESISTANCE  table.
  5. If fuel gauge does not operate as specified, replace fuel gauge. If fuel gauge is okay, test fuel gauge indicator module and fuel gauge sending unit.
