Rear Brake Caliper & Pads: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove rear wheels. To seat piston in caliper bore, remove plug from caliper. Using an Allen wrench, turn adjustment gear counterclockwise to pull piston fully inward. Remove caliper mounting bolt.
  2. Using a screwdriver, pivot caliper to access brake pads. Remove pads, shims, spring and guide pins. Remove parking brake cable bracket bolt, and position bracket aside. Remove parking brake cable from caliper operating lever. Clamp brake hose and remove from caliper. Remove caliper from bracket. See Figure .
