Test S - Improper Check Coolant Indicator Operation
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect low coolant level warning sensor connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and low coolant level warning sensor connector Black/Yellow wire. Voltage should be greater than 10 volts. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open or short in Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and low coolant level warning sensor connector Black wire. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open or short in Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and low coolant level warning sensor connector Yellow/Green wire. Voltage should be greater than 10 volts. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace low coolant level sensor. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove CHECK COOLANT indicator light bulb. Check continuity between terminals of bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace CHECK COOLANT indicator light bulb.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector C3. See Figure . Disconnect low coolant level sensor connector. Measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C3, terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Green wire) and low coolant sensor connector Yellow/Green wire. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C3, terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Green wire). Resistance should be greater than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, replace instrument printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistances are not as specified, repair Yellow/Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
