Pinpoint Test C - Fuel Gauge Always Reads Empty

  1. Check fuel tank sending unit. See FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT under COMPONENT TESTING  in this article. Repair if necessary. If fuel tank sending unit is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel pump wiring harness connector. Remove instrument cluster. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  . Disconnect instrument cluster connector C3. Measure resistance between ground and connector pin No. 1 (Blue/Red wire). If resistance is 10,000 ohms or more, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms or more, repair Blue/Red wire circuit.
