Water Temperature Indicator Sender Unit
NOTE:
Water temperature indicator sensor is also known as the coolant temperature sensor. This is NOT the same sensor used by the PCM.
- Let the engine cool.
- Disconnect the water temperature indicator sender unit connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminal of the water temperature indicator sender unit and ground.
- Start the engine.
- Verify the resistances shown in the chart as the engine warms up. See WATER TEMPERATURE INDICATOR SENDER UNIT RESISTANCE table.
- If the resistances are not as specified, replace the water temperature indicator sender unit. See If the resistances are OK, return to symptom test.
WATER TEMPERATURE INDICATOR SENDER UNIT RESISTANCE
| Coolant Temperature F° (C°) | Resistance (Ohms) |
|---|---|
| 167 (75) | 179-219 |
| 212 (100) | 60-72 |
