Fuel Level Sensor (Sending Unit)

  1. Remove the fuel pump assembly. See FUEL LEVEL SENSOR (SENDING UNIT)  in REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Measure the resistance between terminal No. 3(+) and terminal No. 4(-) of the fuel pump assembly while adjusting the fuel tank float to the following positions, see Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
  3. Gradually change the float position and monitor the resistance for discontinuity(there should be no breaks in resistance reading). If there are discontinuity, replace the fuel level sensor.
  4. If the resistances are not as specified, replace the fuel level sensor. If the fuel level sensor is OK, return to symptom test.
