Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. Remove the four plastic console compartment door screws and the console compartment door.
  3. Remove the two left hand inner instrument panel lower cover screws and the plastic nut. See Fig 1 .
  4. NOTE: Mark the electrical connectors as they are disconnected to ease installation.
  5. Remove the left hand inner instrument panel lower cover and disconnect the foot lamp electrical connector, if equipped.
  6. Remove the two right hand inner instrument panel lower cover screws and the plastic nut.
  7. Remove the right hand inner instrument panel lower cover and disconnect the foot lamp electrical connector, if equipped.
  8. Remove the plastic rivet, the four instrument panel lower cover screws and the instrument panel lower cover. See Fig 2 .

  9. Remove the plastic rivet, four instrument panel steering column cover screws, and the instrument panel steering column cover
  10. Remove the four left hand instrument panel reinforcement bolts and the left hand instrument panel reinforcement. See Fig 3 .
  11. Remove the right hand inner duct screw. See Fig 4 .

  12. Remove the left hand instrument panel screw. See Fig 5 .
  13. Remove the right hand instrument panel screw.
  14. Remove the two glove compartment screws.
  15. Disconnect the glove compartment lamp electrical connector and remove the glove compartment.
  16. Remove the steering column. See 1995 STEERING FORD MOTOR CO. - STEERING COLUM article.
  17. Remove the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  .
  18. Disconnect the safety belt warning chime electrical connector. See Fig 6 .

  19. Remove the two safety belt warning chime bracket screws and the safety belt warning chime.
  20. If equipped, use a suitable tool to pry the power outside rear view mirror control switch from the instrument panel in order to access the power outside rear view mirror control switch electrical connector. See Fig 7 .
  21. Disconnect the power outside rear view mirror control switch electrical connector, if equipped.
  22. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel screw. See Fig 8 .

  23. Remove the center instrument panel finish panel.
  24. Remove the instrument panel ash receptacle. See ASH RECEPTACLE  .
  25. Remove the four climate control assembly screws and pull the climate control assembly from the instrument panel. See Fig 9 .
  26. Disconnect the five electrical connectors from the climate control assembly and remove the climate control assembly from the vehicle.
  27. Remove the radio chassis. See RADIO CHASSIS & TAPE PLAYER  .
  28. Remove the four console bin screws from the radio chassis bracket and remove the console bin.
  29. Remove the windshield side garnish moldings. Pull from the tops of the windshield side garnish moldings, and slide upward to remove. See Fig 10 .

  30. Remove the instrument panel upper molding.
  31. Remove the light sensor amplifier, if equipped, from the top right side of the instrument panel.
  32. Disconnect the light sensor amplifier electrical connector, if equipped. See Fig 11 .
  33. Remove the two head-lamp dimmer sensor control screws, if equipped. See Fig 12 .

  34. Disconnect the two head-lamp dimmer sensor control electrical connectors and remove the head-lamp dimmer sensor control, if equipped.
  35. Remove the instrument panel center nut. See Figure .
  36. Remove the two instrument panel upper bolts.
  37. Remove the instrument panel.
