Oil Pressure Gauge Test

  1. Unplug connector from oil pressure sending unit, located on right side of engine block. Turn ignition on. Oil pressure gauge should indicate low. Install jumper wire between Yellow/Red wire of oil pressure sending unit harness connector and ground. Oil pressure gauge should indicate high. Connect Rotunda Gauge System Tester (021-00038) to Yellow/Red wire. Set tester to resistance values specified in TESTING OIL PRESSURE GAUGE  table.
  2. If oil pressure gauge operates as specified, replace sending unit. If gauge does not operate as specified, inspect instrument panel power and ground circuits.
TESTING OIL PRESSURE GAUGE

Needle Position (psi) (1) Resistance Setting Ohms
Up Position (120) 0
Three Quarter Position (90) 15
Middle Position (60) 32
Down Position (0) 210
(1) Allowable error is twice width of needle.
