Test L: Fuel Flow Sensor (FSS) Pinpoint Test

  1. Turn key to OFF position. Install Rotunda Breakout Box (007-00033) or equivalent with Rotunda Breakout Box Adapter (007-00053), leaving the PCM disconnected. Turn key to ON position. Measure the voltage between fuel flow sensor breakout box terminal No. 31 and ground. Is the voltage between 4-5 volts? If yes, fuel flow circuit is okay. If no, go to next step.
  2. Turn key to OFF position. Install Breakout Box, leaving the PCM disconnected. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector. Measure the resistance between the fuel flow sensor breakout box terminal No. 31 and the FFS wire at the instrument cluster connector. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, service open in FSS wire.
  3. Turn key to OFF position. Install Breakout Box, leaving the PCM disconnected. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector. Measure the resistance between the fuel flow sensor breakout box terminal No. 31 and ground. Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? If yes, replace the Powertrain Control Unit (PCM). If no, service FSS wire for a short.
