Brake Warning System: Notes

Visually inspect the components of the brake warning lamp system for the following:

• Improper parking brake adjustment
• Damaged brake fluid reservoir
• Low brake fluid level
• Blown fuse(s): 10A Meter 10A Rly Coil
• Damaged brake warning lamp bulb
• Damaged instrument cluster circuit
• Damaged wiring harness
• Loose or corroded connections

Verify the charging system warning lamp operates properly on vehicles equipped with analog instrument cluster. If the charging system warning lamp does not work, see CHARGING SYSTEM GAUGE/WARNING LAMP  . Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, bad connections or damage. If fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the diagnosis.
