Instrument Panel: Installation

  1. Install the right hand and left hand registers.
  2. Install the right hand and left hand demister nozzles.
  3. Position the instrument panel to the vehicle.
  4. Install the instrument panel upper bolts and tighten. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the instrument panel center nut. Tighten the instrument panel center nut. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Connect the two autolamp module electrical connectors and position the autolamp module to the instrument panel, if equipped.
  7. Install the photo transistor, if equipped.
  8. Install the defroster grille.
  9. Install the right hand and left hand A-pillar trim. See A-PILLAR TRIM  .
  10. Install the console bin to the radio and tape chassis bracket. Tighten the four console bin screws.
  11. Install the radio and tape chassis.
  12. Install the climate control panel. See A/C-HEATER SYSTEM - MANUAL .
  13. Connect the cigar lighter/illumination lamp electrical connector and position the ashtray assembly to the instrument panel.
  14. Install the four ashtray housing screws and tighten. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  15. Install the control console bezel and control console bezel screw. Tighten the control console bezel screw. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  16. Connect the power mirror switch electrical connector and install the power mirror switch, if equipped.
  17. Position the warning chime and install the two warning chime bracket screws. Tighten the warning chime bracket screws.
  18. Connect the warning chime electrical connector.
  19. Install the instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  .
  20. Install the steering column. See STEERING COLUMN - EXCEPT STRIPPED CHASSIS .
  21. Install the glove compartment box. Refer to the procedure in this section.
  22. Install the right hand and left hand instrument panel screws and tighten. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  23. Install the right hand inner duct screw.
  24. Install the right hand and left hand knee reinforcement plates. Refer to the procedure in this section.
  25. Install the right hand and left hand inner kick panels. Refer to the procedure in this section.
  26. Install the storage bin and the four plastic storage bin screws.
  27. Connect the negative battery cable.
