Timer System
- The timer module, which is mounted to the chassis beneath the inertia fuel shutoff switch, controls the length of operation of the warning chime system. See Fig 1
.
- The warning chime is mounted to the instrument panel directly behind the analog instrument cluster. See Fig 2

- Key Reminder Chime: The warning chime sounds if the key is in the ignition when the driver door is opened.
- Lamps-on Reminder Chime: The warning chime sounds if the headlamps or parking lamps are on after the key is removed from the ignition and the driver door is opened.
- Seat Belt Warning Chime: The warning chime sounds for four to eight seconds simultaneously with the illumination of the seat belt warning lamp if left hand front shoulder belt and the left hand lap belt are not fastened when the ignition is turned to ON. However, if the left hand shoulder belt and the left hand lap belt are fastened prior to placing the ignition switch in the ON position, the seat belt chime is canceled.
- When the ignition is turned to the ON position, the following warning lamps will prove out by momentarily lighting:
- Anti-lock brake
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
- Seat belt
- Overdrive off
- When the ignition is turned to the START position, the low oil level warning lamp also proves out. After the prove out, the analog instrument cluster returns to normal operation.
