Charging System Gauge/Warning Lamp

The charge warning lamp is identified by a battery symbol on the analog instrument cluster. When a charging system malfunction occurs, the charge warning lamp circuit closes, and the charge warning lamp illuminates.

The charge warning lamp also illuminates during prove out. When the ignition switch contacts are closed (switch turned to ON), battery current flows through the charge warning lamp to the voltage regulator and the lamp illuminates.

When the ignition switch is turned to the START position, the generator supplies voltage to the voltage regulator, and the charge warning lamp goes out.
