Crankshaft End Play

Tighten crankshaft bearing caps in sequence and to specification. Turn crankshaft by hand. If it will not turn by hand, remove bearing cap and find source of interference. Check crankshaft end play with dial indicator. End play should be .0031-.0111" (.08-.282 mm). Service limit is .012" (.30 mm). If end play is not within specification, replace thrust bearings as necessary or replace crankshaft.
