Shock Strut & Spring: Removal
- Raise jack only enough to contact body. Open trunk lid. Loosen 2 nuts retaining upper strut mount to body, but DO NOT remove nuts. Raise vehicle and remove wheel.
- Place safety stand under control arm to support suspension. Remove bolt attaching brake hose bracket to strut and place it out of way. DO NOT stretch brake hose or damage metal brake line.
- Remove 2 bolts retaining strut to spindle. Remove 2 upper mount-to-body nuts and remove strut.
- Compress spring with Spring Compressor (D83P-5310-A). To avoid fracture of shaft at base of hex, hold shaft and remove strut shaft-to-mount nut. Remove spring, strut and mount from compressor.
