Hub & Wheel Bearings: Installation

  1. If bearing cups were removed, install NEW inner and outer bearing cups using Installer Set (T80T-4000-W, T77F-1202-A and T73T-1217-A). Support drum hub on wood block and ensure cups are properly seated. DO NOT use cone and roller assembly to install cups, as this will damage cups.
  2. Pack bearings with grease. Apply grease to cup surfaces. Place inner bearing cone and roller assembly in inner cup. Apply light film of grease to lips of NEW grease seal.
  3. Install seal with Installer (T81P-1249-A). Ensure retainer flange is seated all around. Apply light film of grease on spindle bearing surfaces. Install hub and drum on spindle.
  4. Install outer bearing and keyed flat washer on spindle. Install adjusting nut finger tight. Adjust wheel bearings. See WHEEL BEARINGS under ADJUSTMENTS. Install NEW cotter pin and grease cap. Install tire assembly. Lower vehicle and tighten lug nuts.
