Connecting Rod Bearings
After ensuring rod caps are marked for cylinder identification, remove rod caps. Use Plastigage method to check for proper clearances. If not within specifications, new bearings must be installed. New bearings are available in 0.001" or 0.002" undersize. Coat bearing surfaces with oil, install rod cap and tighten nuts.
NOTE:
Always replace bearings in pairs. Never use a new bearing in combination with a used bearing.
