Raise vehicle, disconnect parking brake cables, remove access hole cover plate from backing plate. Turn adjusting screw upward with suitable tool (2018) to expand shoes against drum until slight drag is felt. Remove brake drum. Hold adjusting lever away from adjusting screw, then back off screw three-quarters turn, with fingers.

NOTE: If screw cannot be turned with fingers, repair or replace as necessary.

Install wheel and drum assembly. Back up vehicle, making five to six brake applications, to complete adjustment.
