Rocker Arm Stud Replacement

1965 260" & 289" V8 ROCKER ARM STUD REPLACEMENT NOTE:  Longer press in type studs (2.60" later type; 2.57" early type) are available in three diameters for replacement. C5AZ-6A527-A is standard (no identification marks). C5AZ-6A527-B is.006" oversize (identified by a.070" deep drill point in pilot end of stud). C5AZ-6A527-C is.015" oversize (identified by a step in stud diameter approximately 1 1/8" from pilot end).

NOTE: New threaded type studs for high performance engines are also longer (2.50" later type; 2.38" early type).

To install the new press in type stud, use Tool T65P-6A527-A. Do not use the older stud kit, Tool T62P-6A527-A to install the later type studs.

NOTE: On 289" 271 HP engines, rocker arm studs are threaded into cylinder head instead of being pressed in. When installing new stud, torque to 60-70 ft. lbs. Tool Kit T62F-6A527-A is available for this purpose.

After removing old stud always use reamers in sequence and finish ream before, installing a new oversize stud. Align stud and installer tool with stud bore, then tap sliding driver until it bottoms. When installer contacts stud boss on head, stud is installed to correct height.
