Removal and Installation

- Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) element. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
- Remove the 2 bolts and position the degas bottle/lower ACL
housing assembly aside.
- To install, tighten bolts to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
- Relieve the vacuum in the brake booster by pressing and releasing the brake pedal a minimum of 5 times with the engine not running.
- Disconnect the brake fluid level switch.
- If equipped, disconnect the vapor management valve electrical connector, detach the valve from the bracket and position aside.
- Remove the 2 brake master cylinder nuts and position the master cylinder aside.
- To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the booster.
- If equipped, disconnect the power distribution auxiliary relay box and position it aside.
- Remove the brake pedal cotter pin cover and the brake pedal cotter pin.
- Position the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch and the brake booster push rod off the brake pedal pin.
- Remove the 4 brake booster-to-pedal bracket nuts.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the brake booster.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
