Output Shaft Seal: Installation

4WD vehicles

Using the Output Shaft Oil Seal Installer (4x4), install a new output oil seal.

Install the transfer case. For additional information, refer to TRANSFER CASE .
RWD vehicles
Using the Output Shaft Oil Seal Installer (4x2), install a new output oil seal.

Apply threadlock to the threads of the transmission output flange locknut. Using the Drive Pinion Flange Holding Fixture with the Mainshaft Locknut Socket, install the transmission flange and transmission output flange locknut.
- Tighten to 330 Nm (244 lb-ft).

All vehicles

NOTE: Make sure the index marks made during removal are aligned.

Connect the rear driveshaft.
For vehicles equipped with a gasoline engine, install new driveshaft flange bolts.
- Tighten to 102 Nm (75 lb-ft).
For vehicles equipped with a diesel engine, install new driveshaft flange bolts.
- Tighten to 111 Nm (82 lb-ft).
