Countershaft Bearing: Disassembly

Using the Shaft Protector Set, 2 or 3 Jaw Puller and the Drive Pinion Bearing Cone Remover, remove the front countershaft bearing.

Using the Bearing Puller, remove the rear countershaft bearing.

Inspect the countershaft and bearings for wear or damage. Install new components as necessary. For additional information, refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH - GENERAL INFORMATION .
- Always install new bearings and cups as a set.

Inspect and install a new countershaft if the teeth are chipped or excessively worn.

NOTE: To prevent damage, do not heat the countershaft middle bearing or the countershaft front bearing higher than 150°C (302°F) maximum.

New or original components should be heated in advance of the assembly procedure. Heating the specified components will ease the assembly process. Place the countershaft middle bearing and the countershaft front bearing into the Gear/Bearing Heater.
