Hub Lock: Removal

Dual rear wheel vehicles 

  1. Remove the front wheels. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
  2. Remove the hub extender nuts and the hub extender.

    All vehicles 

  4. Loosen the hub lock screws 1 to 2 turns.
  5. Use a small pry bar around the entire hub flange to release the gasket.

  7. Remove and discard the hub lock screws.

    NOTE: Wiggle the axle shaft while sliding the hub lock off of the splines to ease removal.
  9. Use a small pry bar around the entire hub flange and remove the hub lock from the wheel hub.
  10. Remove the old gasket material completely and discard the O-ring.
  11. Clean the O-ring seal contact area as necessary to provide a good seal.
