Engine Support Insulators: Removal

All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION AND FILTERING article.
- Remove the throttle body (TB). For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING AND CONTROLS - 5.4L (3V) article.
- Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to GENERATOR AND REGULATOR article.
- Remove the engine cooling fan. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Install the special tools.
- Remove the 4 exhaust Y-pipe nuts.
- Remove and discard the transmission mount-to-crossmember nuts.
- Remove the A/C compressor. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL article.
- Remove the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM - GASOLINE ENGINES article.
- Remove and discard the RH engine support insulator through bolt.
- Loosen the LH engine support insulator through bolt.
- Loosen the 3 LH engine support insulator nuts.
- Remove and discard the 4 RH engine support insulator nuts.
- Remove the oil cooler. For additional information, refer to Oil Cooler .
- Loosen the RH engine support insulator through bolt.
- Remove and discard the LH engine support insulator through bolt.
- Loosen the 4 RH engine support insulator nuts.
- Remove and discard the 3 LH engine support insulator nuts.
- Using the special tools, raise the engine.
- Remove the RH engine support insulator.
- If servicing the RH engine support insulator bracket, remove the 3 bolts and the RH engine mount bracket.
- Discard the 3 engine support insulator bracket bolts.
- Remove the LH engine support insulator.
- If servicing the LH engine support insulator bracket, remove the 3 bolts and the LH engine mount bracket.
- Discard the 3 engine support insulator bracket bolts.

CAUTION:
The engine support insulator bracket bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed, or damage to the vehicle may occur. They are a tighten-to-yield design and cannot be reused.
