General
The oil pump (2) in the automatic transmission is used for various tasks. It also transports oil for:
- Coolant in torque converter
- Generation of compressive forces for multidisk brakes and multiplate clutch
- Working oil for gearshift
- Lubricating oil for planetary gear sets
The hydraulic pressure is set in the transmission control.
The oil pump (2) has been developed for optimum efficiency, among other things, in order to minimize CO2
emissions.
Function
The oil pump (2) operates according to the vane-cell principle, which is positioned in an "off-axis" design next to the drive shaft (4) and driven by a chain drive (3).
